Alpine Hike Munich Outdoor Experience Via Ferrata secured cable Hike

Via Ferrata (secured cable hike, no climbing skills required)

Unique to the Alps are routes with fixed cables and stanchions set in the rock to aid your ascent, known in Italian as “Via Ferrata” or in German as “Klettersteig”. Most of the way we will hike, but where we encounter passages requiring this extra security, we will clip in our short double ropes to the cable, leaving one always on while we remove and re-fix the other to pass a rock screw holding the cable in.

Unique to the Alps are hiking routes with fixed cables and stanchions set in the rock to aid your ascent, known in Italian as “Via Ferrata” or in German as “Klettersteig”. Most of the way we will hike, but where we encounter passages requiring this extra security, get your guide to check your harness as we will clip in our short double ropes to the cable, leaving one always on while we remove and re-fix the other to pass a rock screw holding the cable in.

There are many day trips out of Munich into the Bavarian pre-Alps featuring a Klettersteig, or there are multi-day outdoor adventure tours from Munich to explore the classic founding Via Ferrata in the Italian Dolomites, just a few hours away.

No rope and carabiner skills are required, and no rock-climbing technique or experience is necessary for this exciting activity for the visitor to Munich. We assume you have enjoyed hiking in the mountains before and are interested in a unique new adventure. A helmet, harness, and the double rope are provided. Bring your own footwear and other hiking gear to enjoy this unrivaled Alpine experience.
